There’s an old saying…
\nA fool and his money are soon parted.<\/p>\n

I come down in the fool side when it comes to buying stuff.<\/p>\n

As a firm believer in “He who dies with the most toys wins”, I have an obligation to maintain my status as a leader in that race.<\/p>\n

Then today my fool got a rude awakening.<\/p>\n

\"Apple<\/a>Apple came out with the details of their new Watch.<\/p>\n

I like electronic stuff and I was a proud owner of a Pulsar watch many years ago.<\/p>\n

It’s was cool and that made me awesome.<\/p>\n

I need all the help I can get.<\/p>\n

Back to Apple.<\/p>\n

You have got to be kidding me with those prices.<\/p>\n

There’s three classes of watches.
\nThe Sports watch with funky bands starts at $349.
\nMore when you add the band.<\/p>\n

The stainless steel watch – which I like – is $549 and depending on what band you want to come with it, the total could hit $1099.<\/p>\n

\"Mickey-watch-sized\"<\/a>We won’t even get into the gold watch that starts at ten-grand.
\nYou got that much money then be my guest.<\/p>\n

Buy me a stainless one, please.<\/p>\n

I’ll write nice things about you.<\/p>\n

Now, I’m an Apple fan and have the iPhone since the first one came out.<\/p>\n

Every two years I schlep to the Apple store and get a new one.<\/p>\n

But my wireless carrier subsidizes much of that cost.<\/p>\n

No one is gonna help me with the watch.<\/p>\n

And a couple of years from now when the thing has more goodies inside I get the buy another one because there’s no way to upgrade.<\/p>\n

At full price.<\/p>\n

\"I<\/a>I’m a fool.
\nBut I’m not stupid.
\nUnless it comes to something like this.<\/p>\n

Imagine how happy the wife was to hear I was going to pass on it.<\/p>\n

I’m grumpy over this.<\/p>\n

UPDATE: Sigh, I bought one.
\nI love it.<\/p>\n

I was smart – I bought one for the wife too.
\nShe loves it.<\/p>\n

Now she can’t complain.<\/p>\n
