{"id":2772,"date":"2015-05-19T18:10:03","date_gmt":"2015-05-20T04:10:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/grumpyseniors.com\/?p=2772"},"modified":"2015-05-29T06:50:27","modified_gmt":"2015-05-29T16:50:27","slug":"why-is-hawaiian-air-not-doing-this","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/grumpyseniors.com\/?p=2772","title":{"rendered":"Why is Hawaiian Air not doing this?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Give me a moment of your time.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll understand this is important.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been several years since I first heard of the Delta Honor Guard.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a group of employees and baggage handlers at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>They meet every Delta plane carrying a fallen soldier.<br \/>\nOr in this case repatriated remains from the Korean War.<\/p>\n<p>This is what they do.<\/p>\n<p>And they do it with pride and love.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class='youtube-player' type='text\/html' width='584' height='329' src='https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/c_VGxfmDmEo?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;autohide=2&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;wmode=transparent' allowfullscreen='true' style='border:0;'><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>American soldiers are still going in harm&#8217;s way all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>To my knowledge Hawaiian Airlines does not do something like this.<\/p>\n<p>For the life of me &#8211; I can&#8217;t understand &#8211; why not?<\/p>\n<p>For a company that says it cares so much about people this should be a given.<\/p>\n<p>You can bet Hawaiian Air workers would flock to join.<\/p>\n<p>You can bet almost any active duty soldier would want to volunteer his or her time to show those workers how to be an honor guard.<\/p>\n<p>I once wrote a nice email to the PR folks at Hawaiian asking them to consider it.<br \/>\nI offered to assist in finding the appropriate military assistance.<\/p>\n<p>I never heard back.<br \/>\nThat sucked but the offer still stands.<\/p>\n<p>Someone out there reading this knows someone who&#8217;s a big shot with Hawaiian.<\/p>\n<p>Forward this to them and then ask, &#8220;why not?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ask them how they possibly could <strong><em>not<\/em><\/strong> do something like this.<br \/>\nAren&#8217;t they ashamed that there are those who think they don&#8217;t care?<\/p>\n<p>If they say it costs too much money then please give them hell for me.<br \/>\nThey deserve it.<\/p>\n<p>Then let me know the answer so I can share it with everyone.<\/p>\n<p>We all should be a little grumpy over this.<\/p>\n<p>Update: Ten days have gone by. Nothing from Hawaiian Air &#8211; or anyone. Sorry to say I&#8217;m not surprised. Maybe I should organize a picket line.
