I like Washington State.<\/p>\n
I lived in Spokane for a few years\u00a0back in my youth and survived a winter where it once snowed 80-inches in January alone.<\/span><\/p>\n It’s pretty and clean and if you like trees, it’s heaven.<\/p>\n It’s also full of political nut-jobs.<\/p>\n A school district has decided the game of tag can hurt the emotional well-being of the little ones.<\/p>\n So, the Mercer Island School District banned the game during recess.<\/p>\n Good grief – what else can you do during recess?<\/p>\n The kids told their parents. The school district says the reason for stopping tag is to protect the “physical and emotional safety” of the little kiddies.<\/p>\n Emotional safety?<\/p>\n Are kids today such wimps that they become traumatized while being chased in a game they want to play?<\/p>\n There’s more – Let me work on this for a second… This doesn’t make a lick of sense, especially when you measure it against the other activities the school has.<\/p>\n Football, which is like tag only instead of gently touching someone and saying “you’re it,” students beat the hell out of each other.<\/p>\n Let’s not ignore wrestling where your hands are all over each other.<\/p>\n We’re raising of bunch of pansies by trying to protect children from everything.<\/p>\n When I was a kid I fell down playing – a lot.<\/p>\n I’ve actually fallen down as an adult. Anyway, my mother put a band-aid on it, gave me a kiss and I ran outside to fall down some more.<\/p>\n I survived.<\/p>\n In fact, scientists says it’s actually good for children to get a bit banged up. All that is leading to this…<\/p>\n
\nThey started raising hell.<\/p>\n
\nThey also mentioned physical safety, saying children need to keep their hands to themselves.<\/p>\n
\nA pat on the back in a game of tag might make someone…mildly uncomfortable?<\/p>\n
\nBut that’s a different story.<\/p>\n
