\"vote-sized\"<\/a>Not just any office, mind you.<\/p>\n

I’m thinking of\u00a0running for President of the United States.<\/p>\n

One should always aim for the top.<\/p>\n

I formed an exploratory committee consisting of the wife and she said I’m nuts and If I win she won’t go.<\/p>\n

There’s nothing to worry about because I don’t care for the job\u00a0much.<\/p>\n

Too much stress, too little money and there’s always a significant number of people unhappy with\u00a0you.<\/p>\n

People wanting to hug me would probably get a cavity search by the Secret Service.<\/p>\n

The wife’s girlfriends would stop and that’s a bummer.<\/p>\n

To quote some Scottish guy, “if nominated I’ll decline. If drafted I’ll defer. And if elected I’ll resign.”<\/p>\n

But I still want to run for President of the United States.<\/p>\n

I won’t\u00a0campaign, I won’t\u00a0raise money and I won’t\u00a0open a campaign headquarters.<\/p>\n

Real politicians love that stuff.<\/p>\n

Former Mayor Frank Fasi used to dedicate bus stops at election time.
\nHe loved it.<\/p>\n

When he was running for re-election, he’d send his cabinet out to plant flowers along the highway.<\/p>\n

Five minutes before the TV News cameras arrived, Fasi would show up and start looking busy.<\/p>\n

Five minutes after they left, so did he.<\/p>\n

The guy was a master at this.<\/p>\n

None of that stuff for me.<\/p>\n

I just want to run for the office so I would be known as a “former candidate for President”.<\/p>\n

That would be so cool.<\/p>\n
