Meet Me

My name is Courtney Harrington.

I’ve crossed the threshold and made it to the ranks of senior citizen, geezer and old coot.

I’ve worked hard most of my life, starting when I was 15 and still going.

I’ve worked in radio and TV news for more than 20 years.

Then ran information technology for the City of Honolulu, in homeland security with the State of Hawaii and now the federal government.

If I count my military service I’ve had eight major careers and a bunch of sidelines in my lifetime.
I would do it the same way again.

I’ve learned a lot of stuff and I can’t say I’ve ever been bored.

New posts are generally when I feel like it.
In most cases it’s Monday and Friday, sometimes not.

I suggest you subscribe so you’re notified when I move off the couch to the computer.

You’re welcome to participate if you like.
It’s always nice to hear from people.

What a great site. I don’t know if I’m reading a book, talking stories with you over coffee in the morning like the real seniors, or role playing as your shrink. Coming from a government career that including some peeks into the political world, I can see where some of your thoughts just gently nudge areas where the real stories are stored. I do agree that a book would make for great reading.

    • Thanks Bobby. As you and I have both been there, government service is “interesting” to say the least. I have enough stories about Mufi Hannemann alone to fill two books 🙂
      Enough said.

  2. Grumpy seniors? You’re too young to be a grumpy senior. The rule book says you have to be over 70, doesn’t it? As I recall, being under 70 you can be grumpy or senior but not both.

No matter, I got some chuckles out of your site and I’m grateful for that. I look forward to more.

    • I always thought the rule book said 65, or 55 if it’s AARP talkin’ at you or 60 for the senior discount at some places.
I have no idea. Don’t care either 🙂

  3. Just read Meet Me so I’m thinking you must have known Ed Michelman. He and Kimi were friends of mine, Kimi being a very close friend since 1979 when I worked for her on Cooke Street in Kakaako.
